Although it’s a traditional seaside resort, Filey has a more relaxed ambience than say Scarborough or Bridlington and it is a very popular destination in the summer months. Whether you are looking for great dog walks, dog friendly beaches or both, a dog friendly holiday in Filey won’t disappoint. The main beach welcomes dogs from October to March. May to September restricts dogs along the main seafront, however they can still enjoy 5 miles to the right (Past Royal Parade Cafe) and 1 mile to the right (Past Coble landing) of freedom!

Glen Gardens and Crescent Gardens are fantastic sociable areas for dog owners and there are always lots of happy dogs about!

Filey’s very own ‘Mrs Bishops Doggy Deli’ is a must visit to give your pet the ultimate holiday treatment. Situated on Murray Street in town, and selling her well known treats such as ‘Cherry Barkwells’ and ‘Peamutt Butter Cups’ your dog can really indulge on their holidays!

You’ll be spoilt for choice if you’re looking for a dog friendly café or pub in Filey, they are really popular. The Cobble Bar & Bistro, where you can dine with your dogs inside or out on the balcony. Plenty of water bowls are provided and the fish and chips are excellent. The Hen House on Coble Landing and Filey Bistro and coffee bar are also popular.

Filey has previously been home to some huge events based around its love of dogs - the ‘Westie Walk’ has taken place here on more than one occasion! About 150 West Highland terriers were taken for a walk on Filey beach one sunny Sunday morning. They assembled at West Avenue carpark and strolled down the Ravine to the beach. For many, that was as far as they got, although many more walked to Primrose Valley and back.
